Bolstering My Children's Education

Once we started homeschooling our kids, I noticed that they started to struggle more with concentration. In addition to making it hard to get through a lesson, they also lost interest in some of their favorite subjects--presumably because we weren't teaching them as well as their favorite teachers. Fortunately, a friend of ours told us about some great homeschooling educational tools that might be able to help. We invested in some new textbooks and a few updated visual aids, and it made a tremendous difference. Read this blog to find out how to bolster your child's education, even if you teach them at home.

Three Reasons To Take A Defensive Driving Class

by Fred Peters

You may have received a ticket and had to take a defensive driving course. In many states if you get a traffic violation you will have to take a defensive driving course. However, you may find that many people are starting to take defensive driving classes. Defensive driving courses are taught by highly qualified teachers that are sure to give you a great experience. Here are just a few reasons that taking a defensive driving course may be beneficial to you, even if you have a perfect driving record.

Become A Safer Driver

Unless you are a police officer or firefighter, driving is most likely the most dangerous thing that you did today. In fact, there were 38,300 fatalities that were the result of vehicles. So, the better driver that you are the better. Each time that you climb into your vehicle and pull out of the driveway, you are putting your life and the life of your loved ones into yours and every other driver's hands. When you take the class, you will for sure learn some skills that will make you a much safer driver. Often, it is the other people on the road that you have to worry about, and a defensive driving class will give you the skills to be aware of your surroundings.

Decrease Insurance Premiums

A ticket can really jack up your insurance rates, and nobody wants to pay a lot for their car insurance. While some people are worried about their insurance premiums going up, other people are actively looking for ways to save money on car insurance. One way to save money on your car insurance is, yup you guessed it, take a defensive driving course. After taking a defensive driving class, you may be presented with a certificate of completion. Some insurance companies see this as evidence that you are a much safer driver and allow you to save money on your insurance.

Improve Driving Record

Unfortunately, when you pay for a ticket, it does not go away completely. Most violations will stay on your record for three years. These are offenses like speeding, running red light, or not using your turn signal. A more serious violation like a hit and run can stay on your driving record for 10 years. When you take a defensive driving class, you will also be knocking some of the negative points off of your record. A defensive driving class can help you in many ways.
