Bolstering My Children's Education

Once we started homeschooling our kids, I noticed that they started to struggle more with concentration. In addition to making it hard to get through a lesson, they also lost interest in some of their favorite subjects--presumably because we weren't teaching them as well as their favorite teachers. Fortunately, a friend of ours told us about some great homeschooling educational tools that might be able to help. We invested in some new textbooks and a few updated visual aids, and it made a tremendous difference. Read this blog to find out how to bolster your child's education, even if you teach them at home.

3 Reasons A Military-Friendly Online College Is The Best Choice For Service Members

by Fred Peters

If you are in the military -- either on active duty or in the reserves -- and are thinking about going back to school, it's important to look for a military-friendly online college. Of course, you don't technically have to choose a military-friendly school; instead, you should be able to apply for classes at any school that you are interested in attending. You will probably find that it's best to attend a military-friendly online college in particular, though, for these reasons.

1. They Can Help You More Financially

You might need a little bit of help with paying for your schooling, and you might find that a military-friendly online college will be able to help you more with this than other schools will. For example, a military-friendly online college's financial aid department might have staff members who are more well-acquainted with the GI bill and the scholarships that are out there for those who are in the military. This can help you simplify the process of paying for your tuition, and it might help you find more programs that can help reduce your out-of-pocket costs and student loans for your schooling.

2. They'll Be More Understanding of Your Schedule and Lifestyle

As someone who is in the military, you probably live a different lifestyle and have a different schedule from many other students. Additionally, you never know when you might have to switch to another duty station or when you might be deployed. With a military-friendly college, the professors, counselors, and other staff members all have a better understanding of what service members go through, and they are often more willing and able to accommodate the challenges that service members face while attempting to get an education.

3. They'll Help You Take Advantage of Your Previous Experience

You might have already gone through some military schooling, and you might have learned a lot while in the military. A good military-friendly online college might help you take advantage of these strengths by potentially giving you some college credits for the schooling and training that you have already completed. They might also have more programs that are more closely related to the experience that you have from the military.

If you are a service member, it might be a good idea to go back to school. Luckily, there are a lot of military-friendly online colleges out there. Consider looking for one of these colleges, and you can hopefully get started on the right track toward getting an education.
